Eye candy: Halo 4’s stunning opening cinematic

The final teaser may have been something of a damp squib, but Halo 4’s opening cinematic is marvellous.

Microsoft’s franchise-rebooting first-person shooter has only been out for a few hours, but footage of the opening has already made its way onto YouTube.

It features some beautifully nuanced, unhurried facial animation, which we hear was created by the reigning masters of the genre, Digic Pictures.

Fantastic stuff – and almost enough to convince even this diehard Halo non-fan to buy the game.
