Enter your VFX work for the next VES Student Award
The Visual Effects Society is calling for entries for its annual VES Student Award, won last time around by Roman Kälin, Falko Paeper and Florian Wittman’s snappy fmx festival ident (above).
To be eligible for entry, a project must contain visual effects work and have been completed during the current calendar year.
You’ll also need to be enrolled at a ‘recognized school’ (any training facility accredited by an official educational body, essentially) for the year ending 31 December 2012, or be working with someone who is.
Glittering prizes
The winner(s) will receive the award live at 11th Annual VES Awards Show, to be held on 5 February 2013 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.
According to the VES: “The winning student will be provided with free airfare from anywhere around the world, two nights’ accommodation to attend the show, and one license of either the Autodesk Maya Entertainment Creation Suite Premium or the Autodesk 3ds Max Entertainment Creation Suite [Premium].”
Both suites have a MSRP of $6,825.
Entering for the award gives both the VES and Autodesk unrestricted, though non-exclusive, access to screen your work, so you’ll need to be careful about anything you hope to develop commercially – but it’s good exposure, not to mention the chance to meet some of the leading people in the visual effects industry at the ceremony.
Entries must be submitted by 30 November 2012.
