Atangeo ships polygon Cruncher plugin for Unity

Mesh-decimation specialist Atangeo has released Cruncher, a new polygon-reduction plugin for Unity based on the Balancer SDK used for its existing standalone software.

Cruncher works with static and animated meshes to generate LODs that accurately preserve the appearance, normals, texture co-ordinates, materials and layer boundaries of the original hi-res model.

Meshes that cannot be reduced below Unity’s 65,000-vertex limit using the settings specified by the user are automatically skipped.

Cruncher is available for the Pro edition of Unity 3.5, price $200. The free version of Unity is not supported.
