Allegorithmic releases Substance Designer 3.1

Substance Designer 3 in action. The 3.1 update adds the option to paint seamlessly tiling textures automatically.

Allegorithmic has released version 3.1 of Substance Designer, its specialist games texturing tool, extending the bitmap painting editor introduced in version 3.0 of the software.

The software provides a non-destructive, node-based system, complete with a 3D preview, for authoring lightweight procedural textures, or ‘substances’. Substances are supported in 3ds Max, Maya and Unity.

New features in version 3.1 include a new tiling mode that works with both the brush and stamp tool, enabling users to paint seamlessly tiling textures automatically.

Substance Designer 3.1 is available now for Windows XP+ and Mac OS X 10.6+, price $590.
