@meatpuppet: yeah, both autodesk and adobe wanna go into the cloud to get a deathgrip to their software – but yet it also creates opportunities for those companies that don`t have any issues with their software being sold, like Luxology or others. I am sure when this happens both AD and Adobe will wake up in no time…

This court ruling creates a long awaited ‘dent’ into the FUD (Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt) tactics employed by the software vendors. However, worth noting that Usedsoft’s use of a ‘Notary’ (in part, to hide where the licences came from) was deemed illegal by the German courts and Usedsoft is now also going through insolvency proceedings. There are other secondary software licence suppliers whom adopt more transparent business models that do not rely on the Exhaustion Principle eg: http://www.discount-licensing.com.

All this means is developers are going to got to a subscription model so we can’t make money off their software. Enjoy it while it lasts.
