Export from Blender to Maxwell Render with BtoMW
BlenderNation has an interesting story on BtoMW: a new script designed to convert Blender scenes into Maxwell Render’s native .mxs file format.
The script exports linked meshes and duplicated faces as instances, and preserves object hierarchies and environment settings. Materials are linked, but not exported directly.
BtoMW is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, and requires Blender 2.61 or above and the Maxwell Render Python binding.
As far as we can see, there’s no official website for the script, so for the minute, you’re best visiting the BlenderNation page (link below), which also includes posts from BtoMW developer Riccardo Gagliardiucci.
Also available: export from Blender to V-Ray
The script complements another recent release: Andrey Izrantsev’s V-Ray exporter for Blender.
Together with Blender 2.61’s new GPU-accelerated Cycles renderer, the two scripts greatly open up the photorealistic rendering capabilities available to Blender users.
