Planetside Software releases Terragen 2.4

Ulco Glimmerveen‘s ‘Garden of Eternity’, created using Terragen’s Animation Module.

Planetside Software has released a free update to Terragen, including the first full release of the popular landscape generator’s Animation Module.

Available in pre-release form since 2008, Terragen 2.4 marks the first proper outing for the module, which provides a complete keyframe editing workflow, including a dope sheet and curve editor.

Terragen 2.4 also includes the option to precalculate a GI cache file to speed up renders or generate larger still images; and to blend multiple GI caches when generating a final render, reducing flicker in animations.

The update also adds a Lean To Normal parameter, orienting instances of rocks or vegetation to the normal of a slope; a Vector Displacement shader; and a ‘Quick Node Palette’ to speed up the creation of node networks.

Terragen 2.4 is available now for Windows and Mac OS X as a free update to registered users of Terragen 2.

A full licence of the software costs from $299 to $999 depending on whether you buy the Animation Module and the optional bundled copies of Xfrog or its plants libraries.
