After Effects ambient occlusion plugin DarkCorner, ported to Mac after “overwhelming demand” from users.
AGF Multimedia has released Mac OS X versions of DarkCorner, its GPU-based ambient occlusion plugin for After Effects, and anti-aliasing plugin JaggyBuster.
Both plug-ins are now available for OS X Lion and work with After Effects CS5 onwards. Dark Corner is OpenGL-based, so it is compatible with any GPU that supports OpenGL 3.3 or higher.
DarkCorner uses Z-depth to calculate AO for still images or image sequences. Users can either supply the images in formats in which Z-depth information is automatically embedded, such as .rla or .rpf; or supply the Z-depth data via a second image sequence. Normal data can also be used to help the calculation.
DarkCorner and JaggyBuster are available in a bundle deal, price $89.90, until the end of May.
