Wayne Robson creates free FiberMesh-to-Max plugin

ZBrush 4R2b has only been out a week, but already there are two tools for converting polygonal hair created with its FiberMesh system to splines for rendering in other 3D packages.

Marius Silaghi was first out of the gate with commercial plugins for export to 3ds Max and Maya, plus a standalone edition that works with Max or Blender. All cost €20 (around $25).

And now digital sculptor Wayne Robson has pitched in, releasing a free script for 3ds Max.

According to Robson, the original was “knocked out in an hour” (it must be nice to be able to do that), so it’s also worth keeping an eye on the release thread on CGTalk, where other users have been contributing their own refinements to the script.
