The Foundry ships Mari 1.4

The Foundry has updated Mari, its increasingly industry-standard 3D painting tool.

For most artists, the main addition to version 1.4 will probably be support for import and export of layered Photoshop PSD files, although The Foundry has also added support for the Sony Pictures Imageworks-developed colour management standard OpenColorIO and triplanar texture projection.

Originally developed at Weta during work on Avatar, Mari is now in use at studios including Industrial Light & Magic, Pixar, Digital Domain and DreamWorks Animation.
