Chaos Group announces beta of V-Ray for Maya 2.0

Chaos Group has released V-Ray 2.0 for Maya in beta, with a full release expected later this month.

The new release brings interactive GPU-based rendering, first seen in the 3ds Max version of the renderer, to Maya users. The beta is available free to existing V-Ray 1.5 for Maya users, along with anyone signing up to pre-order the software.

Chaos Group of Sofia, Bulgaria, leader in the development of software solutions for the computer graphics industry, released V-Ray 2.0 for Maya Beta, with plans for a final release in late April.

Now with interactive rendering on CPU and GPU, Maya users can expect faster, more powerful rendering in V-Ray 2.0 for Maya. A few of the many enhanced and new features in this version include:

• V-Ray RT and V-Ray RT GPU
• Faster rendering of dynamic geometry (displacement, fur, proxies, hair etc)
• Faster rendering of render-time subdivision surfaces, VRayFur and Maya hair
• Python access to the V-Ray scene
• VRayCarPaint material
• VRayToon shader
• And a lot more
