Three great shorts from the late, great Animate Projects

Animate Projects has announced that it is to close, following a change in Arts Council England funding.
The organisation, which commissioned and promoted most of the best animation work created outside the mainstream in the UK in the past 20 years, seems to have been a victim of the government’s budget cuts.
Animate Projects, formerly known as Animate, produced work by most of the country’s leading independent animators, including Phil Mulloy, the Brothers Quay, time-slice inventor Tim Macmillan and Sarah Cox.
The shorts it championed won numerous BAFTA and British Animation Awards, and included work by directors as diverse as Palme d’Or winner Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Turner Prize nominees Jane and Louise Wilson and maverick documentarist Andrew Kötting.
As a tribute to its work, we’ve linked to three of the shorts it helped create below. The videos are just a small, and entirely personal, selection of favourites from the organisation’s substantial body of work.
