HDR Light Studio 2.0 offers real-time HDRI design

Lightmap has just updated its HDR Light Studio software, offering real-time lighting design capabilities to users of Autodesk software.

The product enables users to design custom HDR images, and is primarily intended for artists working in product visualisation – but it’s cool enough to appeal to anyone who works with rendered stills.

HDR Light Studio 2.0’s new LiveLight system enables users to drag and drop an OBJ or mental images MI file onto the preview window, then adjust the lighting in real time, exporting the result as a custom HDRI file.

Other new features include an expanded range of Picture Lights – real-world image-based light sources, including soft boxes, windows and gobos – new stock backgrounds in the Pro edition of the software, and a number of performance tweaks.

The Standard edition of the software costs £399 (around $640) and the Pro edition £599 ($965).
