There are many many technologies that I have left out of the article (in the GPGPU rendering list there are dozens of real-time raytracers now coming on the market). The purpose is simply to give examples and not overwhelm the reader with too much information to digest.

OpenCL is certainly gaining momentum. Lack of mention was not anything against the technology nor was it to promote NVIDIA. But the focus of this series is also not on compute technologies, but on graphics and the science behind it. &lt;/p&gt;

Perhaps in a future article on raytracing, I will highlight OpenCL and its potential.&lt;/p&gt;]]></description>
