If it’s a captain america movie he should wear a the captain america costume. Otherwise you are making another movie. Let the high paid writers and director/producers figure out how to make it work with the original costume and story. Cap Am in 1940 was meant to be the ultimate US weapon, striking terror into the hearts of the enemy by his appearance and fighting power. He was to the 1940s what the A-Bomb was to the Japanese–pure terror and destruction.

Looks really phony. No realism. And that stupid A on his head needs to go! who would do that? it’s just dumb. The Star on the chest is cool, but the shield, if it’s going to be a target needs to have a more “I dare you to try and hit me” feel.

I like the design but I would go with a more militant look. The colors are still to comic’e. I would go with the Extreme Digital, MirageFlage, Multicam & Flectarn patterns to keep to date with the essence of his natural background.

well captain america even admits to being a walking target, but at the same time he stands as a symbol for the country. When he gets that shield and busts a nazi’s face with it, they know it’s america kicking their ass Plus the shield does protect him, especially later when tony stark remakes the thing with antimantium i believe.

and as awesome as using the american flag as a toga may be, it may look a little silly in a film

Sorry, Dude – but that still looks ridiculous. They need to hit an Army supply or surplus and develop a truly ‘realistic’ version of the outfit – same with the shield which would seem to serve as a giant bullseye for enemies; bright insignia like that would only serve to give away your position – the producers can always have Cap’s costume torn up somehow and drape himself in an American flag ala Alex Ross’ “Earth X” version;
