Prime Focus Expands Stereo 3D Capabilities Worldwide

Prime Focus, one of the world’s largest post-production/visual effects conglomerates hiring over 1600 people in North America, UK and India, has announced that it has made a huge capital investment into expanding its Stereoscopic capabilities.

A new 65,000sqft headquarters in Mumbai will house seven stereo theatres and 600 artist seats to provide a complete slate of visual effects and post production services.

In Hollywood, efforts will be focused on delivering stereo 3D creative services including 2D to 3D conversions and stereo editorial/visual effects for film, television and broadcast. To support this, Prime Focus says it is building out 200 new artist seats and has upgraded its post infrastructure including digital intermediary suites, telecine bays and theatres into stereo-enabled spaces supporting ReadD and Dolby stereo projection.

The Hollywood studio has also hired notable stereoscopic supervisor Jeremy Nicolaides, whose credits include “Alice in Wonderland,” “Arabia 3D,” “G-Force 3D,” “Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D,” “U2 3D” and more. Additionally, Prime Focus producer Bridgitte Krupke has been appointed Executive Producer, and Chris Del Conte as Senior Producer, both overseeing 2D-to-3D conversion projects.

At Prime Focus London, a 2D-to-3D conversion pipeline has recently been installed, and the company plans to expand into a new space to accommodate an additional 200 visual effects artists.
