An inside look at the spectacular animation of the Hydra, water effects, and the creation of a virtual New York by Digital Domain.
Our latest behind the scenes feature Digital Domain takes a look at environmental projection mapping for New York, turning water dynamics into a super power, and in a departure from what DD is traditionally known for, the team took on animation and creation of monsters in the Fury and the Hydra. Includes interviews with Kelly Port – VFX Supervisor, Erik Gamache – Animation Supervisor, Geoffrey Baumann – Digital Environments Lead.

I’ve never even heard of this movie until now. Looks like an Americanized Harry Potter. The FX look rad, the folks at D2 always do top rate work. The movie itself looks kind of dumb though – another FX extravaganza written by chimps and deprived of all nutrients by arm chair bureaucrats and marketing harpies. I hope I’m wrong.
