VFX Oscar Nominee: Star Trek

A contender for the VFX Oscar this year is J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek. Other contenders are Avatar and District 9.

Film Synopsis: In the 23rd century, a troubled but talented young rebel named James T. Kirk and a half-Vulcan, half-human instructor named Spock take an instant dislike to each other at the Starfleet Academy. When a Romulan ship from the future attempts to destroy the Federation of Planets, Kirk, Spock and a mostly inexperienced crew are thrown together on their first mission aboard the Starship Enterprise.
