Heroes and V making of Event

Monday, February 22nd, 2010 | Posted by Matt McCorkell

This Thursday at the Gnomon, supervisors, producers, and artists from the V and Heroes will be giving an overview of how they planned and developed thousands of shots for prime time.  This event is a great chance for those interested in the process of storyboarding, pre-vis, and compositing for TV production.  Attendees will be privy to solutions for vfx under tight budgets and deadlines; including Realtime on-set compositing. Definitely worth a look if you want to know where compositing tech is headed.

Presenters:

Mark Spatny
Supervising Producer, Stargate Studios

As Supervising Producer for Stargate Studios, Mark Spatny acts as head of production for the company, as well as personally producing and supervising effects for NBC’s Heroes.

Within the entertainment industry, Mark has worked hard to bring recognition to the artists behind the scenes by helping create The Visual Effects Society Awards, and is currently serving as its co-chair. He is also a Governor for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. His work has been honored with two Emmys and one VES Award.

Eric Grenaudier
Senior Visual Effects Supervisor, Stargate Studios

As Senior VFX Supervisor for Stargate, Eric travels the world representing the company on its biggest projects. Whether shooting in the jungles of South America, the beaches of Malta, or locally in Los Angeles, Eric puts his talent to work creating some of the most visually stunning effects seen on television.

Eric has won two Emmy Awards and two Visual Effects Society Awards, as well as the Hollywood Post Alliance Award, and Canada’s Leo Award.

Andrew Orloff
Executive Creative Director, Zoic Studios

Andrew Orloff is Zoic Studios’ Creative Director and has been with the company since its inception. He leads Zoic’s award-winning episodic television division and the dynamic and ever-expanding work in the videogame and mobile realm.

His wealth of television credits include VFX Supervisor for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (three seasons), VFX Supervisor for CSI: Miami (season 2), and VFX Supervisor for the pilots for NYPD 2069 and Global Frequency. With over 100 motion control shoots to his name, Orloff was instrumental in setting up Zoic’s insert stage used for both episodic and commercial projects.
